Members of the public are invited to a wildfire safety meeting Wednesday in Leavenworth.
The Chumstick Wildfire Steward Coalition is hosting the event from 6-8 p.m. in the Tumwater Room at the Icicle Village Resort, said Corrine Hoffman, Chumstick Wildfire Stewardship Coalition director. Members of organizations throughout the county will be available at the meeting to talk about ongoing and future wildfire mitigation projects.
One of the projects to be discussed is the Upper Wenatchee Pilot Project, which plans to look at 75,000 acres for possible wildfire treatment, Hoffman said. The project is in its early stages and the Forest Service is looking at possible environmental impacts.
Representatives from the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest, Cascadia Conservation District and Chelan County will be at the event to answer questions from the public, she said.
